Kids & Youth

ST MATT'S KIDS

St Matt’s Kids is a community of children and leaders seeking to know God better through the Bible. We want everyone of all ages to have the chance to discover more of what God has given us in Jesus and what it means to live for him.

Our children's pastor, Tyler, coordinates the program and leads our team of teachers, helping all the children who come to St Matthew’s to learn about Jesus. Each term we work our way through a different book of the Bible with an age appropriate programme which include songs, games, stories from the Bible, craft and small group discussions.

We have a great team of leaders from the family of St Matthew's. All our leaders have regular training and the required Working with Children and Church Safe documents.

During this time when we are not able to run our usual Sundays at St Matt's Kids, we are working to bring you a special St Matt's Kids online programme. Stay tuned for more information.

MANIA

Mania is our school holiday program for children from Pre-primary to Year 6. It runs each morning, Tuesday to Friday, during the first week of the September-October holidays. We wrap up the week with a family fun night on Friday, which all family members are invited to join.

Stay tuned for more about this year's MEDIEVAL MANIA!

ST MATT'S YOUTH

St Matt's Youth is divided into SOLID ROCK, our junior youth group for Years 7-9, and COMMON GROUND, our senior youth group for Years 10-12.

During this time when we are not able to run our usual gatherings for St Matt's Youth, we are working to bring you a special St Matt's Youth online programme. Stay tuned for more information.

SOLID ROCK

Solid Rock is the junior youth group for St Matthew's Church, and the middle schoolers in the area. We're a Christian community that really care about three things: Jesus, the Bible and each other. We meet on Friday nights, Sundays and for a camp together during the year.

FRIDAY NIGHTS

Solid Rock meets for two hours on Friday nights from 6:30pm at St Matthew's Church. Designed for years 7-9, it is active and engaging, full of fun, friends and food.

The evening begins with games and hang-out time where everyone from years 7 to 12 has the opportunity to chat together or chuck a ball around. The junior and senior groups then split for dinner, and Solid Rock gets to enjoy more games and fun times with their leaders. The highlight of the evening is a chance to read, study and think about a passage of the Bible together, and then pray.

The evening wraps up around 8:30pm.

$5 per child to cover the cost of dinner would be enormously helpful.

SUNDAYS

Solid Rock meets again on Sundays for Bible studies during the 9AM and 11AM services. Bible studies are a great way to get to know Jesus and each other better.

For more information on any of this, feel free to contact our youth pastor, Chris.

CAMP ROCK

A weekend away in summer for Solid Rock and friends, having fun, hanging out, and learning together as we study the Bible, and pray.

Stay tuned for more information.

COMMON GROUND

Common Ground is the senior youth group for St Matthew's Church, and the high schoolers in the area. We're a Christian community that really care about three things: Jesus, the Bible and each other. We meet on Friday nights, Sundays and for a week long camp in Albany at the start of the year.

FRIDAY NIGHTS

Common Ground meets for two hours on Friday nights from 6:30pm at St Matthew's Church, 114 Onslow Road. Designed for years 10-12, it is intelligent without being intellectual, mature without being old.  We have dinner together and enjoy one another's company, but the highlight of the evening is a chance to read, study and think about a passage of the Bible together, and then pray. The evening wraps up around 8:30pm.

$5 to cover the cost of dinner would be enormously helpful.

SUNDAYS

Common Ground meets again on Sundays for Bible studies at 4:30pm at houses around Shenton Park, where we have some dinner, then head to Unichurch (6:30pm) at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre at UWA. Bible studies are a great way to get to know Jesus and each other better.

For more information on any of this, feel free to contact Chris.

CAMPING GROUND

Each year a group of teenagers and young adults head to the shores of Oyster Harbour in Lower Kalgan for a week of fun. Staying at the first class accommodation of Great Southern Grammar School, we have Bible studies in the morning, seminars before lunch, and meetings in the evening. Every other minute of the day is filled with fun activities, great food, and making new friends.

Stay tuned for Camping Ground 2021!
