Coming to church
How things go on a Sunday at 4pm
We love to have people visit and check church out. We start at 4pm, but many people arrive in the few minutes after, so don't worry if you are late.
We start with children and adults together singing a couple of songs, being welcomed and praying that God might do us good as we meet.
Children go out to creche and the St Matt's Kids programmes start about 4:15 and run till 5:30, just after the service finishes. People hang around to talk after the service, and there's some food passed around.
You don't have to dress a special way or bring anything or know what to do. Church is about hearing the Bible read and having its message brought home to our hearts and minds, and Christians really value this, as well as joining with others in prayer and praise of God, and caring for one another. Anyone curious is welcome to come.
Meet the Team
4pm and 6:30pm
Ben has been on staff at St Matthew's since late 2009, and really enjoys the friendly energy of this wonderful bunch of Christians. The chance to open the Bible with people on Sundays and during the week, and discover the good things God has for us in Jesus is an honour and a pleasure. Originally from Sydney, now Shenton Park is home to him, his wife Michelle and their two children.
Eryn-May grew up in a lovely 'no traffic light' town. In year 12 her life was turned about after coming to an understanding of God’s grace. Formerly a primary teacher she joined St Matt’s in 2013 after studying at SMBC. She finds joy in helping people discover God through the Bible and in equipping others for gospel ministry. She is a fan of leaf tea, music and making things from scratch just like her Nanna taught her.
By the grace of God, Tyler became a Christian through the patient prayer and discipleship of his parents. His marriage to Penny, their three children, and his experience in education and ministry are all testaments to God’s faithfulness. He enjoys exploring the Southern Coast with his family, quality music, all-sorts sport, American cereal and helping others to treasure Jesus.
Chris was raised to love all that this world offers, until he was introduced to Jesus by an elderly Sunday School teacher. It wasn't exciting. It wasn't flashy. But being lovingly told about the God who loved, lived, died, and rose for him, changed him forever. Chris has worked with teenagers for 15 years. He is married to Karen and they have one son. Chris enjoys spreadsheets, woodwork, and entertaining; and longs to see more young people excited about Jesus.
